Ximena Gutiérrez Ramos

Research Interests
One of the many questions that I would like to answer is how the body plan regulatory genes evolved? Genetic and bioinformatic tools can allow us to understand how a conserved gene toolbox can change and create a diversity of shapes as we can appreciate in insects. My research aims are to understand the role of cis-regulatory elements in the transcriptional regulation in segmentation genes and the evolutionary trajectories of these mechanisms.
